Our story

Girgaon has sold paper for a century.
We started folding it.

Kandawadi and the lanes around Khadilkar Road have been Mumbai’s paper market for longer than anyone trading in them can remember. The Box Co opened here in 2001 doing what everybody else on the street did — buying board, selling board, printing the odd job on the side.

The change came from the customers. Bakers wanted a box that held a one-kilo cake without sagging. Mithai shops wanted cavities that actually fitted their pieces. Nobody wanted a ream of board; they wanted a finished carton, in the size they used, in the quantity they could sell that month. So we bought a platen and started cutting. Then a foiling machine, then lamination, then the pasting line.

Every one of those decisions was made because a customer asked for something we had to send outside. Today nothing goes outside. Board is stocked on our own floor, the die is in our own rack, and the carton is printed, foiled, cut, creased, pasted, checked and packed under one roof before it is handed to a courier or a transporter.

That is the whole argument for buying from a manufacturer instead of a trader. The minimum is a scheduling decision, not a purchase order — which is why a home baker can order 1 piece off the same press that runs twenty thousand for a listed brand.

In plain language

What “own factory” actually means for you.

Three differences you would actually notice, and what the alternative looks like.

1piece — our lowest published minimum A full lotwhatever the supplier happens to ship

You can order twenty, not two thousand

The board is already on our floor, so a short run is a scheduling decision rather than a purchase order. Minimums across the catalogue start at 1 piece and never go past 500.

A trader has to buy a full lot from their supplier. Their minimum is whatever that lot happens to be.

Same dayyou → the press Two, three daysyou → trader → supplier → press

You are talking to the people who cut it

If a size is wrong, the person you message can walk to the machine. No ticket queue, no supplier in the middle.

Through a middleman every question is a relay, and every answer takes a day longer.

You pay thiswhat the box costs to make + their marginthe same box, through a reseller

There is no markup in the middle

The rate you see is our rate for making the box. Nobody is adding a margin between the press and your invoice — and the whole rate card is published below.

Resellers earn on the spread, which is why their price moves depending on who is asking.

What the floor can do

Board, weight and finish.

Substrate decides whether the box holds its shape. GSM decides whether it feels cheap. Finishing decides whether anybody photographs it. All three are chosen per job, not per catalogue page.

7

Board families in stock

Kraft and uncoated brown, FBB and SBS for folding cartons, Hi-Kote art card where the print has to sing, imported white bleached kraft, kappa for rigid, and MDF for the keepsake work.

250–350

GSM on folding cartons

The working range for cake, mithai and hamper cartons. Lighter than 250 GSM and the lid bows; heavier than 350 and the crease fights you. Rigid, kappa and MDF lines run on mounted board instead, where thickness matters more than weight.

Finishes on the floor

Matt and gloss lamination, gold and silver hot foiling, Scodix raised foil, embossing, spot UV, PVC window patching, ribbon and magnet closures. Combine them freely — each one simply adds a pass to the schedule.

223

Dies already cut

Across 81 catalogue lines in 6 ranges. If your size is on that list there is no tooling cost at all. If it is not, we cut a die once and store it against your name for every reorder after that.

Who we pack for

Twenty pieces or twenty thousand — same press.

Most of our floor time goes to Indian food and gifting businesses.

Home bakers & cloud kitchens

Cake, cupcake, brownie and pastry cartons with the window and the board weight that survives a scooter ride. Minimums start small enough to test a new size.

Chocolatiers & patisseries

Sliding cavity boxes, bonbon trays and rigid gift lines with foiling and Scodix. Cavities are cut to the piece, not the other way round.

Mithai & namkeen houses

Food-grade board, grease-resistant liners and festive foiled cartons in quarter, half and one-kilo sizes. Diwali slots book out early — plan on a month.

Wedding planners & decorators

Hamper trunks, invitation boxes and trousseau packing in rigid and MDF, with ribbon, magnet closures and personalised foiling on the lid.

Corporate gifting & HR teams

Branded Diwali and onboarding hampers, printed to your brand book, packed and despatched to multiple offices from a single order.

D2C & e-commerce brands

Mailer cartons and subscription boxes that survive a courier network, with an unboxing worth photographing. Repeat sizes stay on the same die.

How a quote works

Four steps to a firm figure.

Send us the sizes and quantities you are weighing up, and we come back with a firm figure including packing and freight to your city. You pay only once you have agreed it.

  1. 01

    Pick sizes and quantities

Every size carries its own rate and its own minimum, and the per-piece figure moves as the quantity does — the ladder above shows exactly how.

  2. 02

    Send the list

Name, phone, city and what you make. It reaches us on WhatsApp and by email at the same moment.

  3. 03

    We confirm the real total

Packing and freight depend on city, weight and size, so we quote them rather than guess. GST is added on top.

  4. 04

    You approve, we despatch

Full payment in advance — against our proforma, or through the checkout on this site. Despatch inside one to two working days.

Frequently asked

It varies by line, and every product page prints its own. Across the live catalogue the lowest published minimum is 1 piece and the highest is 500 — Jars & Accessories from 1, Hampers & Baskets from 5, Luxury & MDF from 6, Chocolate & Mithai from 10, Bakery & Dessert Boxes from 50, Bespoke from 100. Custom printed work starts higher because the press has to be set up for it.

Not on stock lines — stock ships in whichever of the two or three designs and colours we have run. On custom printed work you choose everything. Either way, expect some variation between a screen and a printed sheet; if the shade is critical, ask us for a printed proof.

3 of the 81 lines in the catalogue include the cavity or insert in the published rate, and the product page says so. Everywhere else the cavity is quoted separately, because it depends on the piece it has to hold.

No. Every rate on this site excludes GST, packing and freight. GST is added on the invoice at the applicable rate, and it applies to transport and shipping as well as the goods.

Packing and freight are extra and depend on city, weight and size. Courier means delivery to your door; transport means collection from the transport office and is usually cheaper on bulk. We quote the figure rather than estimating it.

Full payment in advance. You can pay through the secure checkout on this site, or against a proforma invoice if you would rather send the order over on WhatsApp.

No. There are no exchanges or returns on packaging, because a printed and die-cut box is made for one buyer. For a damage claim we need a video of the parcel being opened, so please record it before you cut the tape.

A GST number or PAN card, plus the delivery address and a phone number the courier can reach. Most orders leave Girgaon inside one to two working days of payment.

Next step

Send us the sizes. We will send the number.

Every rate and every minimum in the catalogue is published on the page. If your size is not there, tell us the dimensions and the quantity and we will quote it — usually the same day.
